How It Works
BMX Freestyle is a judged competition where riders perform two-minute runs executing a sequence of tricks on ramps, walls, box jumps, and spines throughout the park. These riders are judged on the quality of their run based on difficulty, style, and originality. BMX Freestyle will make its Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games in July 2021.
The competition will take place at the Ariake Urban Sports Park in Ariake, Koto-Ku, Tokyo. This course has been constructed in the Ariake district, which is located in the stunning waterfront area close to the Athletes' Village.
USA Cycling is entering the Olympic Games with past and present World Champions, Hannah Roberts (2017, 2019, 2021), Perris Benegas (2018), and Justin Dowell (2018).
USA Cycling relies on thousands of individual annual contributions from cyclists and other supporters of our mission to champion the sport of cycling in America. These contributions fund elite-level development so the Stars and Stripes shine on Olympic and other world-class podiums. They also support programs that get newcomers to the sport and the events that keep them there. Let's grow the sport of cycling together! Donate now.
